Unveiling the Electrified Icon: Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid

Toyota has taken a significant leap towards electrification with the introduction of a hybrid powertrain option for its renowned Land Cruiser 300 Series. This new hybrid variant is a game-changer, not only for its eco-conscious appeal but also because it emerges as the most powerful Land Cruiser 300 version to date.

Initially launched in select Middle Eastern markets, the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid is set to make its way to several international markets in the near future.

Power and Performance

At the heart of the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid is a sophisticated powertrain:

• It combines a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine with a single-motor parallel hybrid setup.

• The electric motor is cleverly integrated between the engine and the LC300’s 10-speed automatic gearbox.

• This formidable combination delivers a combined output of 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of peak torque.

• Notably, this powertrain architecture is shared with other robust Toyota and Lexus models built on the TNGA-F platform, including the Lexus LX 700h, Toyota Sequoia SUV, and Tundra pickup truck.

Built for Any Terrain

Staying true to its heritage, the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid retains its legendary off-road capabilities:

• It comes equipped with a full-time all-wheel-drive (AWD) system and a low-range transfer case.

• The advanced hybrid control system seamlessly manages power, switching between the petrol engine and the electric motor as needed.

• For challenging environments, it boasts an impressive water wading capacity of 700mm, supported by a waterproofed gearbox designed to protect the electric motor.

Key Enhancements and Differences

While embracing hybrid technology, there are some notable changes:

• The fuel tank capacity has been adjusted to 68 liters, a reduction from the 80 liters found in the standard gasoline model.

• Despite this, the hybrid SUV is reported to offer better towing capacity than the diesel-powered Land Cruiser 300.

Variants and Distinctive Styling

In the UAE, Toyota is offering the LC 300 Hybrid in two distinct variants:

• GR Sport: This entry-level option features 18-inch wheels with a sporty design, complemented by off-road focused bumpers.

• VXR: The higher-spec variant, which comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, elegant chrome detailing, a tweaked air intake design, and a redesigned lower front bumper.

To visually distinguish the hybrid model, Toyota has added specific badging:

• “457 TT” badging on the sides signifies the twin-turbo 457 horsepower.

• A prominent “HEV” badge, encircled by a blue ring, is found on the tailgate, clearly highlighting its electrified powertrain.
